Afang,
I signed up with BankDirect a couple of months ago in response to their offer -- open an account = 1,000 miles ... do direct deposit = 4,000 more miles. The 1,000 miles were credited quickly. So have been the miles based on average daily balance. Haven't yet received the direct deposit bonus, so I e-mailed them and am guessing they'll clean this up real soon.
One thing that people may not realize about BankDirect is that it has a comprehensive, seamless interface into Quicken 2000 and newer versions of Quicken. Many financial institutions have varying degrees of electronic interface to Quicken, but BankDirect's is virtually seamless. I can set up online payees, recurring payments, do statement balancing, transaction downloads and matches to my Quicken register all automatically through the Quicken "online center" - no having to download QIF files or any of that nonsense. I liked getting the miles - it was what induced me to open the account in the first place - but the Quicken interface is fantastic. It's now my primary checking account.
I'm not sure that Citibank's checking products are this tightly integrated to Quicken.
From the FWIW department ...
