On a flight from LA last year, me and the other half ordered the same item as op-uped pax in First. I got the last chicken and the other half was asked to select another option. It was requested in a very very nice way. I'm UK Gold with a higher CIV score whereas the other half is EuroGold with the minimum Gold CIV score which is why I know he was approached rather than me.
On a CW flight to JFK last year, the other half had to remind crew of this policy/practice (?) and that he was Gold when an extra chicken dish was found. The problem with CW is that they make the choice so wide for variety, they do not carry many of each meal choice annoying pax who want certain popular choices.
You do not want to annoy pax that regularly spend on BA flights now do you?
From the 1st Febuary we have returned to having just 4 choices in CW out of LHR.
BA have found that by having 5 choices less customers received the first choice, we did warn them but that's another story.
