Except for a few small political parties with extreme views, every conservative party in GB and Europe is to the left of the US liberal party.
Depends on your perspective. On socio-economic issues, probably. On personal liberties, probably not. We don't generally arrest people in the US for speech, no matter how distasteful. Or slap injunctive notices on newspapers.
