Thanks for all the advice. My justification to my boss (so I can meet my co worker) for going to LAX is actually because EWR-SIN is $8700 and LAX-SIN is $5700. I can get a M class fare to LAX with instant upgrade for $1000 which still makes it cheaper to do LAX

I am glad I can check my bag all the way though because LAX is a pain when it comes to luggage. Thnaks,
