next week I fly BHX to DXB then to BOM - and out of curiosity, I have been monitoring the arrival time of incoming EK 039 which is then my departing flight (EK040). In the past when i have used it frequently, it has always been consistently on time or early.

For the last couple of weeks, it has arrived at BHX at least an hour late every day, on some days even later. Even more bizzarely, it has arrived even later than can be accounted for by the delay due to the late take off.

Ie today, 3 Feb, departure from DXB: Scheduled 08.05 actual 08.55 (+ 50 mins)

expected arrival at bhx: scheduled: 11.40 estimated actual: 13.06 (+86 mins)

so I am wondering (a) why every flight is really late taking off (remote stand? Late interconnecting flights?),

and (b) why the delay gets compounded in flight (unusual headwinds? Strange indirect routing?).
