Dawn, Cova makes a good point about Friday night and Saturday night the lounge will be closed regardless.

Since you have stated that you do not want or need the beach, and your primary desire is to be "really close to the pier," a reasonable alternative might be Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruiseport, which is also a CAT 5. Friends of mine have stayed there in the past before they embarked on cruises, and they were happy with their choice.
