But IMO Delta, the airline known to give away miles like candy, must maintain this 500 mile minimum, not only to remain competitive but to make their FF program realistic. If they were stingy with miles, do you think they could afford/justify charging 60K r/t award ticket to Europe for instance, when other airlines such as AA only charge 20K.. so that's another point to ponder. Therefore, it's great that they offer the 500 mile minimum, but they really don't have much of a choice.
