Hard to secure a car there during the fair. Easy 3-4 hour drive from LHR. Never stayed in Newark itself. If you stay in or near Lincoln you can also do shops there and around. Check Pyewipe Inn (no kidding. name of bird) or the Carlise House B&B. Both were good.
