Apparently the 2001 program details regarding VIP2s were just released today to the Executive Desk:

- Each VIP2 certificate now valid for ONE FLIGHT SEGMENT ONLY
- 8 of these one segment VIP2s will be issued to each member
- And the worst news, for travel outside North and Central America, VIP2 upgrades will be CAPACITY CONTROLLED and booked in A or C
class (as opposed to F or J previously) (still no capacity controls within N. America)
- 2001 packages start shipping February 5

On a separate issue, Web fares are definitively NOT upgradeable using VIP2s, although they can be upgraded with regular 100 hour segment sticker upgrades.

Just confirmed from the EXP desk that the upgrade is one-way and not one segment.
All flights have to be completed by the end day and not just ticketed like now.

Will UA see more 1Ks this year??
