I go to the trouble of calling i-pass and registering my rental car plate with them every time I rent a car, so if the transponder doesn't work, the charge should be put against my account instead of Avis. This seems to be a waste of time.
Does anyone have any advice on how to make sure I don't get these toll violations?
If you want to be safe when driving in Illinois use the tourist lanes on the right! It cost double and you have to stop, but the fines on these tool roads are absolutely nuts and often they used to show up a year later! Unless you have an vehicle registered to the State Tollway Authority IPASS, just pay cash and avoid the whole thing.
