Ron,

Help me resolve some of your posts on this thread. The more you post on this subject, the more confused I get.

You jumped into this discussion with a defense of the test and a comment of

So, if they detect what they are designed to detect, is that a false positive? Or do you have a different understanding of the term than the rest of us?
Now you say :

So, did you know that the test did what it was supposed to do, like you first claimed -- or not?

Now, this thread was about the OP drinking his mocha in the sterile area and being subjected to an attempted TSA liquid test from the cup he was drinking.

Yet you get back to this all being a passenger choice:

Only a lab is going to be able to tell us exactly what was in the bottle, and at what concentrations. Its not a technology that can be put at a checkpoint. But the detection technology can be, and since it is impractical to make a passenger wait several days for the results of lab testing of their products its best to just not allow them into the sterile area. It’s the reason we give the passengers choices, because it may be a completely innocent bottle of whatever, and there is no real need for them to loose it. Its also why we have the signs throughout the airports, the announcements on the PA systems, the TSA web site, and all the other forms of advertising and/or warnings that passengers ignore on a daily basis.
Honestly, Ron. From the bottom of your heart. Do you believe strip testing beverages in the sterile area being consumed by pax is a useful diversion of your organization's valuable resources?

Especially if when the test is refused, the TSO just walks away?

With your prior background, how can you believe this is not folly and keep a straight face????

Oh, and the handgun issue you keep bringing into the mocha discussion -- you might try to get the answer from Alvin Crabtree. I hear he is still working for your organization, and must have had a good answer to that question to keep his job.
