Do fares ever go back down once they go up?
Hi there, I'm looking to book BOS > IAD > DXB roundtrip in May (either 5/19 or 5/21 through 5/31 or 6/5). Last year this flight cost me $1150; last November it was $998. I checked in early January and noticed fares were hovering around $1300. I checked last week and they were $1400 for each day in our timeframe; they're now around $1500.
Does this mean the fares are up for good? And all available S or W fares are simply sold out? Should I buy before they go up much higher or does UA ever release more seats in the lower priced fare buckets? Likewise, could the price decrease in the existing fare buckets (i.e. do W fares on a route ever go up and down in price prior to a flight?) I had no idea this was such a popular route in late May.
