It makes perfect sense. @:-) They needed to limit lounge access in order to create space for paid guests.

Interesting to see the relative values they put on SEN, BIZ and Welcome lounges. Now we know what the going rate is when flogging lounge access on eBay.

Either they are not sure how this arrangement will work or keeping the option to enhance the service (increase the charge?) as the offer is "initially valid only for a Lufthansa operated flight commencing on/before 31 August 2010".
