I'm sure SQ status passengers would not appreciate being unable to book F/J awards on half of their Star partners flights, nor being rebuffed entrance to a partner lounge although they hold both a Star Gold card and a F/J Star boarding pass...
I highly doubt Star Alliance will be able to do anything about it since founding members such as United are infamous for blocking award inventory.
