Wingate by Wyndham (note: not all Wyndham) offers free HSI and "expanded complimentary hot breakfast buffet" at all their locations. It's the equivalent of college dorm food (make your own belgian waffles, scrambled eggs and sausage from cafeteria trays, plus toast, muffins, etc.) but a lot better than nothing. They seem to hit the sweet spot for me of amenities (internet, breakfast, sometimes even mini-fridge & microwave in room) without the cost of a "full service" hotel. Who needs overpriced valet parking and ballroom space for 1500 people anyway when you just want a comfortable night?

Sadly, they seem to be focused on destinations outside big cities.
