As for places to eat, not a lot in the immediate area (the area around Sans Souci is mostly park) but there are a lot of places near the Zoo end of Waikiki, which is not far at all, and even more that can be reached via TheBus.
There is a large Safeway supermarket up on Kapahulu Blvd. that has a large wine and beer section, but pretty much limited to standard labels. If you want a really special experice, Tamura's Market in Kaimuki is worth a visit.

Diamond Head Market is really ono stuff. Right down the street from there is South Shore Grill, which is a good lunch place and earns RewardsNetwork. Next to South Shore Grill, there's an Italian restaurant that we've never tried but it was booming when we passed by on a Friday night.
