I must be staying at dif hotels too. I rarely encounter the late cleaning unless the hotel is full. And usually in those instances I'll call & say I'll be out until xx, could you have someone come in before then, and as someone else mentioned they're usually pretty good about accomodating me. There are times, as also mentioned, when I have the DND on because I want to sleep in, so I'm not in the first pass. Quite often there's a card under the door saying they saw DND & to call them when I want it cleaned.
