Nearly turned to the dark side - but will fly BA & drive the extra
Want to get to the North coast of Scotland for a BH weekend in May - four adults in all - and have been investigating flights. Inverness is by far the closest airport, but FlyBe wanted £940 for the flights from Gatwick, and that was before we'd even pre-selected seats - so in all, it was more than £1k. (I don't bother checking EasyJet - that would ruin the holiday before it had even begun).
Suddenly realised I could go with BA as far as Aberdeen, and just the drive the extra 90 miles or so (through nice surroundings) – was planning to hire a car anyhow. Total cost worked at to circa £530 for four of us, including lounge access both ends (1 x Gold, 1 x Silver travelling), free seat selection AND avoid the nastiness which is Gatwick South Terminal over a Bank Holiday weekend (LGW North would have been fine).
Plus 10 TPs and a handful of miles as well – and a better choice of flights, with a free drink and bag a bird seed on board. That makes for a bargain. And a happy BA customer (would just be even happier if you flew to Inverness still!)
