Just got back from four nights at the Marriott Long Wharf in Boston. As a plat, was told no kings available on concierge floor, but was given "nice room" on a different floor. Walked into "nice room" and noticed a variety of noises including loud hums that had wall vibrating. Walked into hallway and noticed that room was located directly opposite the room with ice machine and noisy vending machines. And it was not a modern, relatively quiet ice machine. Went down to desk to complain. Was transfered to a room that was so noisy, with various hums from heating system, that first room seemed quiet in comparison. Back to front desk. Was transfered to third room, with noise level somewhere between first two. (Note, I tried turning off heating system in all three rooms, but it made little to no difference.) Too tired to continue quest for reasonably quiet room, so spent week with pillows covering my ears at night. Front desk reaction to my complaints ranged from two clerks who were largely oblivious, to a third very concerned clerk who was, ultimately, unable to offer a better room or solution. (The concerned clerk offered use of earplugs, which I declined.) After the first day, never heard from hotel management with apologies or concern, even though I had specifically complained to the front desk day manager.
