Reality is that Aeroplan is no longer an FF program. But a frequent buyer program. Smoke and mirro, nice promises until you try getting them to deliver.
As such it does really no longer serve AC's interests all that well. Only reason why it does not matter is that in the frequent flyer's world, AC is a monopoly.
Bottom line: if I did not have SE status, first thing I would do would be to switch my credit cards to something other than Aeroplan-tied ones.
