Also a suggestion is while MSP-ORD-NRT-HKG provide a more direct routing, the fares are valid also for MSP-ORD-SEA-NRT-HKG, and also MSP-DEN-LAX-NRT-HKG. You are on a MR, so you are trying to save the most money, so you are not going spend the extra $500+ for UA copay in order to upgrade, or it doesn't allows to use SWU as it is K class. Therefore, you like to try to avoid Y in 744 as it has no PTV for ORD-NRT, using SEA-NRT or LAX-NRT are better as both flights are 777 with PTV. IT also has better legroom in E+ on the 777.
