Problems getting mileage credit for Q booking class
In November there was a European Sale on the AA web site. I booked tickets for myself and some friends to London online. We all received the 500 mile online booking bonus for both the outbound and inbound flights, but the flights themselves never appeared in our online summaries. Today one of my friends called AAdvantage to try and get credit and was told that the tickets had been booked in an unpublished consolidator class (Q), so they were not eligible for mileage.
I called them back and explained that:
1.The tickets were purchased directly from
AA and printed on AA stock.
2.I had read the "fine print" on the fare
rules before I bought the tickets and it
had said nothing about the fare not being
eligible for mileage accrual.
3.The Online AAdvantage Members guide plainly
states that "Q" fares are eligible for 100%
mileage accrual.
4.All NetSAAver and FlyAAway tickets (Bulk
Fare tickets for air/hotel packages) that
AA sells are "unpublished", but they give
miles on those fares.
AAdvantage finally transferred me to Customer Service, where I talked to a rep who
conceded that a "clerical error" had been made and credited the miles.
Prior to this incident, EVERY purchased fare (published, unpublished, bulk, NetSAAver, etc.) that I had ever bought directly from AA had always been eligible for miles with no hassle. Is this just an isolated incident or are other people experiencing this problem as well?
