My father is a TSA lead, he has been off work due to surgery since November so he is a bit out of the loop right now but going back soon. When the Christmas incident occurred we were at home with them for the holiday and we had long discussions about the inevitable upcoming changes in the "theatre of security" that would occur. And sure enough . . . .

Although, I think this annoying new move might make someone think - maybe not twice, but once and a half - if they know there will possibly be an additional random screening at boarding. All it will do is make anyone with nefarious motives to be extra smart and careful. TSA is always looking backward, which is frustrating, but it's very difficult to look forward and be correct in your assumptions.
