In light of the new credit legislation, Citi's perilous financial situation, the new inability to churn Citi cards for mileage bonuses and fee-free first years, has anyone successfully had their annual fee waived?
I have had my card for a number of years; I charge and pay off on average about 3K per month and call every year to have my annual fee waived, usually have to politely threaten/ask to cancel the card, get transferred to a retention specialist who then gives me a partial or full annual fee waiver.
I've felt secure in doing this knowing that if they don't grant me a waiver, I can then just sign up for another account without hassle. Now that there may be more of a hassle to things, I'm a little reluctant. Anyone gone through the same process lately?
