The UDU documentation on UA.com says that pax on the same PNR will carry the elite members status when on the UG list.
Can I use Unlimited Domestic Upgrades when traveling with friends or family?
Yes, we?ll automatically request Unlimited Domestic Upgrades for you and up to one other person traveling on the same reservation number. Your companion?s upgrade request will be prioritized based on your Mileage Plus status.
I have. I believe this is ONLY for UDU though, not DM list as a whole. Really, UA hasn't informed me, I have seen in UA press releases. In the end, however UA sets up the DM list programming, that is the way we are to follow. They could tell you all one thing, program it a different way, and I will still follow the programming, even if I THINK I know better. The simple rule of DM list is "Unless their is an error that you are aware of, work the list in the order UA has programmed it to be worked." An agent will never get in trouble for following UA's programming. If a complaint occurs, one has a ready made defense, that cast the error back on UA programmers, not the agent. I do belive it isn't for all on the reservation, but a total of (1) one person in the same reservation only. The whole "extended family" thing of (1) 1k, 1 (2p), 1 (3p) and 3 GM's isn't gonna benefit from this change, just the 1K and one of the others. Which brings up a good programming question. How will the DM list KNOW which one of the others to put there? My guess is only the elite will go there, and he/she can name a single, same-PNR passenger person. So does he choose the 2p wife, as he wants to keep her happy, or skip her, as she MAY clear on her own, and bring up one of the "lesser" relatives. If he then asks (how many seats, will my wife make it on her own" this can cause the DM list processing to slow down. UA doesn't want DM list processing slower. Clearly, (I am thinking out loud) they don't have enough "unfriendly user beta testers" in their brainstorming sessions. Too many "group thinkers" watching each other's backs at the big house to think things through before the press releases.
