SIM cards in Thailand should be in the free to 50 Baht range at 7/11s or phone shops scattered everywhere.

Cambodia has been problematic in the past, however exiting the airport last week there was a 'Hello' stand selling their SIM cards for $5. This is a new player in the game. So far I've had no problems (lost my phone recently and needed to get a new SIM card).
