IAH and HOU to have 45 minutes of free wifi from now on

Didn't see this mentioned anywhere and thought it may peak some interest since so many of us go through IAH and may not have President Club access:

TLDR: 45 minutes of free wifi every 3 hours. Normal rates apply for more than 45 minutes of usage.

Houston Airports Plug in Free Wi-Fi
Houston Airport System
January 18, 2010

The Houston Airport System (HAS) is now offering free Wi-Fi connectivity, as both George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and William P. Hobby (HOU) Airports take another major step forward in the area of customer service.

The new service from HAS was made available to the traveling public in January. That’s when wireless technology made it easier than ever for people to connect with their MP3 player, mobile phone, video game, digital assistant or laptop computer.

Through a partnership with Boingo, both a complimentary session of 45 minutes and a paid service is now available to passengers traveling through Houston.

With speeds up to 100 times faster than standard dialup, passengers will be able to log-on at areas such as restaurants, gates, ticketing and baggage claim.

“Passengers will have access to Houston Airport System content via the Welcome Page,” said Randy Goodman, HAS commercial business development manager. “They will find links to the airport site, maps, real-time flight information, news articles and much more.”.

To access this service, passengers need a Wi-Fi card or mobile device embedded with Wi-Fi technology. Users of the service are greeted by the Houston Airport System's portal page that provides free information and a log on screen for Wi-Fi access

“The Houston Airport System is nationally recognized when it comes to great customer service,” said Tim Joniec, Director, Customer Relations and Special Services for the Houston Airport System. “We are listening to our passengers and enhancing our internet offerings with free services for 45 minutes.”

Wi-Fi connectivity has become more and more essential to today's travelers

If passengers are on a long layover, additional complimentary sessions are available after a three (3) hour period.

Premium pay services are available at the following costs:

- $9.95 per month
- $7.95 per day (24 hour period transferrable to any Boingo location)
- $4.95 per hour

Your $7.95 Day Pass or Boingo unlimited access at HOU and IAH is also good in over 100,000 hotspots worldwide.
