Just curious here, but why would you need the SPG card for that? The credit card that you present along with your picture ID would surely spell out your name, right?
i don't always pay by credit card....a lot of times i usually leave a $200 or $300 deposit during check-in, & it gets adjusted against my bill....it also helps for them to check if they have my spg number in the reservation....i remember a couple of years ago i was traveling with a friend & the hotel had his number in my reservation as well....had i not presented my card, the hotel would have credited the room to my friend's account instead of mine....
