hey all thx for the info. I ended up getting a decent fare off of priceline on Delta. 3/23 DCA->DTW->BKK, then 4/5 BKK->NRT->DTW->DCA.
Price: $993.43. not bad, considering i looked like those previous fares completely dried up!
