I'm a DL Plat and I fly to Africa frequently for work. I never fly DL for all the obvious reasons (nasty planes, service, terminals, etc). I usually fly KLM, Alitalia, and AF. Last week returning from ACC - AMS in KLM I got a gate upgrade to biz. And often on KLM they upgrade me, once boarded, to their economy plus (or whatever they call it). So... depending on your routing, you might get some nice surprises. Agree with other posters that if you're doing flights within Europe, you can probably expect nothing more than miles, however.
