I find it hard to believe anyone could defend Delta's award seat availability, especially internationally. I tried to find a single award seat, business class, LOW TIER price, from Bangkok to anywhere in the 48 states, over the next 331 days on Delta or any Skymiles partner. NOT ONE award seat available on any date. I think I was pretty flexible. How much more flexible can I be, short of booking a high tier award, which I was quoted online 760,000 miles for the single award? THis is fraud, it's "bait and switch", and borders on extortion by Delta.
I sincerely hope Delta shuts down completely, goes out of business completely. It is theft from people who earned and paid for miles with a reasonable expectation of being able to use them, within reason.
Being flexible, like trying to find an economy award seat from LA to Orlando, one might be told by Delta, "there are seats the next day", or "you can go with two connections", but at least it's possible. I have been quoted zero possibility of being able to redeem an award. Seriously, why does Delta even bother opening up any seats for awards at all? Why bother. They don't even publish an award chart for flights not involving U.S. cities. It's all a big mystery how much the awards even are, internationally to internationally. I pray that Delta goes out of business. And the way they tout their "all new and improved three tier award system, where awards are EASIER THAN EVER to get", is just insulting.
