If I understood correctly (which I think I did- but not saying this is what will happen as it was never explained this way before)
Tier Miles will NEVER be reset to ZERO - each month your tier miles will decrease by the amount of tier miles from the same month a year previously... meaning this February 1, a golds Tier miles will go down by what they accrued in Janaury 2009. The tier miles continue tol go up with the amount of mile accrued in the current month. So as long as the previous 12 months is above 50K then a new rolling expiry will start, and I assume the month where it goes below 50K you will have the one year form then to get it back up to the 50K.

It sounds reasonable. However it is quite strange they didn't put this in the FAQ.
