Clueless service agents? Automated emails? or total lack of caring?

I wrote safeway regarding this issue and I get a response that is clearly profoundly not even remotely close to what my email said

I have received your inquiry regarding your airmiles with Safeway and appreciate the opportunity to respond. I would like to let you know that I have renewed your Alaska Airmile account and this change will be effective within 2 to 3 weeks. All eligible purchases made will automatically be adjusted towards the miles. We apologize for any confusion. Customer's who live in Alaska and shop in Alaska are eligible for renewal. perhaps this is what the earlier in the year renewal was all about to see how many people actually cared about miles enough to re register? If this agent was trying to tell me Alaska isnt affected he/she had a very odd way of stating that
