There is a cost involved with providing priority checking - provisioning desks and staffing them. It seems fair enough to provide this to people who pay for it (i.e. pay higher fares). Why should it be provided "free of charge" to people who fly on another airline (QF)? Most airlines don't do this - unless they are in an alliance of some time and have reciprical rights.

number_6s' posts - it is interesting to contrast the Jetstar position on priority check-in/boarding (
where available on A330 services with Star Class) with lounge access. While QP/SG/WP in Y can’t access the priority queues, they can still access the lounges (to the same level as if flying QF itself). [Of course, CLs in Y have access to both priority queues & lounges, just as if flying QF.]
