They have those all over ORD. Looks like you hit the crash bar, the door alarms, then a 30 seconds later it unlatches and you go through. As to the fire code, well, schools have the highest restrictions on fire safety requirements. Seen any little vending machine areas in hotel stairwells? Those are illegal in schools. Airports, while having lots of people in them, are probably pretty safe due to the limited amount of combustibles.
