The Market by Safeway in downtown San Jose www.safeway.com/themarket, has the buy 7 coffees get the 8th free with the in-store Tully's coffee. Only problem is that the Tully's is more expensive and I prefer quad shot espressos at the corporate Starbucks which is one block away. There may be a similar program at The Market by Vons in Long Beach.

If you read on the the Safeway's website regarding earning miles, it appears that the program ends for ALL airline partners. Depending on where you live, you may notice that there are "lower everyday prices" and in the Bay Area this program has been implemented. The lower prices beat 125 miles per $250 spend anyway.

I also use this program to keep my Untied miles alive, but now I'll use my Mileage Plus Visa Signature to keep the miles alive. Mine earns at $2 per mile, but at no annual fee. Since Untied is NOT my preferred airline, this works for me. Others should use the dining program or buy an iTunes e-gift certificate through the Mileage Plus mall to keep the miles alive.
