I don't have time to look through your lengthy (and undoubtedly detailed) trip reports, but chances are you took off on 7R. That's almost a guaranteed city view. 25L (the same runway facing the other direction) is not guaranteed: it generally does not have a city view, although on certain northerly routes on on some departure routes it can.
