crAAzy,

don't confuse a "confirmation code" (also known as record locator or in short "PNR") with the fare basis code. The confirmation code simply uniquely identifies your reservation (which could be in any class) in the system. On AA, which uses the SABRE system, it is a 6-letter code (no numbers) with the first letter being between S and V (or thereabouts).

BTW, on ticket receipts the record locator/confirmation code will be in the box labeled "PNR"; the fare basis will be in a box labeled "Fare Basis" or, in the passenger receipt for the newer ATB2 ticket stock, next to each flight number and date. The first letter of the fare basis is what counts for AAdvantage mileage qualification.
