Helsinki does not have nonstop flights to Atlanta (Finnairīs only US destination being New York), but does have a lot of services in Europe.
Train trip from Helsinki To Moscow is feasible as mentioned, but Moscow is still in Europe. Reaching Asia by rail is certainly feasible, but you are looking at 24+ hour train trip and perhaps uninspiring destinations in Urals or, depending on your preferred definition of Europe, in North Caucasus.
If Helsinki is a must then your limiting yourself to what you can do... if it's not a must then there is no better option then the Trans Siberian Rail -
You can rail it from Helsinki all the way to the Pacific.. one side of Europe to other... seriously long but interesting trip
As to airfare... do a jump from the USA into the center of the EU and then make the next jump into Helsinki.. also try this site out, you can build just about any trip through it thanks it's affiliated carriers -
