I think that you are out of luck for the return policy, but if you genuinely ordered X and received Y (and have documentation to back that up), then it seems a legitimate reason to query the charge entirely.

My experience with Amex is that the process is a long one, but if you're genuine and not defrauding anyone, they come through.
