That would be correct. Smokeless tobacco is corrosive due to the chemicals that are mixed in with the tobacco leaves, however, it takes a while for it to "burn" through whatever container the spitter is using. And yes, just read DL's Contract of Carriage. Chew is a no-no. Direct quote: "Delta prohibits smoking and the use of all smokeless tobacco products on all flights".
