Swallowing Cope (or any smokeless tobacco for that matter)?!?!? Yikes! I do the Skoal wintergreen long cut stuff, even on flights. If you're a spitter, always use common courtesy and spit into a non-clear container. I found that McDonald's cups (preferably with a lid & straw) or something similar works well. Secret is to spit down the straw. Your fellow passengers and FA's can't tell the difference. They'll think you're taking a drink. If you need to change your dip, make sure to do it in the lav where the smell won't offend anyone.
