When I signed up for the Platinum challenge in June, I was told that once I qualified I would be given status through to 2002. Wrong.

This week, I was told that my status is valid till end of this year only and if I wanted to qualify till 2002, I would have to fly the required 50K points. It didn't phase me much because I am only about 7K points away from reaching that goal anyway and will exceed over 8K on my next longhaul flight.

Did anyone get status till 2002 without having to do the 50K required points this year?
