I am taking my bike with me tomorrow, I contacted EKUK and here is the reply and the Q that I asked.
Thank you for your enquiry.
This will be fine.
Bicycles are counted as part of your standard checked baggage allowance - no special allowance is provided and so if the total checked amount exceeds 30kgs, excess baggage charges will apply.
Kind regards,
Barbara

Subject: Luggage Question (can I take a bike?)
Hello, I am flying from LHR to BKK on 24/01/10 EK04 then EK372. My question is can I take my bike? I have taken it apart and squeezed into a cardboard box and into a zipped bag with handles. Only the frame and the wheels are in it, the smaller parts are in my case. It measures 900mm x 600mm x 210mm or 35" x 24" x 8". It will not be returning with me. My luggage will be within my weight allowance. There are no parts contianing hazardous materials and the tyres contain no air.
Kind regards
