I've been one to sneak in some extra cellphone usage when not allowed... trying to be covert. One time, a guy reminded me to turn it off. I thought, fair enough. The rule is to turn it off, and I didn't see the difference between him reminding me now or a FA in 3 minutes.
Maybe you thought the OP was being a bit too preachy about it, which would also be fair, as nobody likes to get scolded by someone w/o authority.
