Thanks for the messages so far! Sounds like it might be ok - yes this would be mainly for US travel (I imagine).

Just one comment on the luggage though - both compartments are 'hard', so it actually won't compress at all. Looks like the only issue could be the depth (compared to other bags), it's just an inch or two deeper than some others I was comparing it to (and as I mentioned isn't really collapsable).

Leaning towards keeping it though!
