Well, I stand corrected. I just checked ExpertFlyer, and while Qantas did retain F service on this route, they indeed did (and are selling, at least for 1/23/2010, did not check too many dates further) some Y tickets that seat in PE. And some PE tickets that sit in J.

The A380 never had the re-distribution of cabin (4 class sold as 3) but LAX-SYD/MEL certainly did (I flew it in October and was in Y+ sold as Y).
This has all but ended, and for some segments that haven't, the fun ends between now and April it appears.
