Scam is a strong word. But it is typical insurance company deceptive advertising. They advertise a $50k limit on emergency medical tranportation, and if you take the time to pull up and read the full policy, all it tells you is that the policy limit (i.e., $50k) applies to all emergency medical transportation, which includes repatriation. If you only learn of the $5k sublimit after you've purchased the policy, I think that's pretty sleazy. I've obviously done a 180 on this (although I don't blame AA; unfortunately this is how insurance companies operate).
