I had a most unusual Caesar Salad in a restuarant in Sydney Australia some years back (and no it didn't have wombats in it). It was labelled in the menu as Caesar salad though I am sure that purists (and many not-so purists would say that it wasn't a Caesar Salad". It was served in individual fairly deep glass bowls with ample Romain leaves as a base. On top of the lettuce was a barely poched egg, two anchovies and some fairly serious sgavings of imported Italian Parmesan (Reggiano). The slad has an oil and vinegar dressing so in some sense I guess it was a deconstrcted Caesar.
