If you are close to Platinum qualification, do not hesitate to make a mileage run to achieve it. First tiers of AA, UA, CO, etc are becoming so crowded that the next tier (50K) is becoming the real basic point. While you will encounter all attitudes in day to day dealings, the mileage bonus and the priority in waitlist make it well worth the effort.
